I suppose in as I was craving tacos on my way back to MD. I ordered street tacos rice and beans, and chips and guacamole. I tell you they were the best I have ever had! Everything was super fresh and flavorful! I wish I lived closer but will be stopping through on all of my trips to Fayetteville. The staff and I belive the other may have been the owner but all wrte very nice. I'll definitely be going back! We’ve visited Tacos Don Vargas three times in the past four months on our drives up the coast. It is now a planned stop. Tacos Don Vargas is located in an aging commercial strip behind some gas pumps, and can be hard to notice at night. Let none of this deter you. The business combines a grocery with fresh meat counter and a taqueria with counter service. The owner and employees are pleasant and helpful. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Now for the food: Plates are generous, prices are reasonable, and everything we have eaten was excellent. The food sits well, and does not make you sleepy. The rice is properly cooked, the salad is fresh, the beans are excellent, and the meats are exceptional. If you want to see the freshness of the meats, just look in the meat case. There are no secrets. The red and green sauces are provided in large condiment bottles to use as you wish. Have your meal as mild or spicy as you choose. During our multiple visits we have ordered burritos, gorditas, sopes, tortas, and plates, with chicken, asada, carnitas, and barbacoa. I am a particular fan of the barbacoa. My wife thinks the beans are perfect. The tres leches cake was excellent. Stop in for an excellent Mexican meal and skip the fast food. BTW... the restrooms are clean.
