Michelin Guide rating

After years of working behind the scenes in kitchens across the city, Chef Surbhi Sahni strikes out on her own with this cute FiDi nook within earshot of the South Street Seaport. The brick-and-mortar opening comes after operating as an online-only confections shop in 2019 and later pivoting to meal delivery... More info

We had the masala snacks, curry chicken, prawns, and samosas when we went in for happy hour. The cuisine was mediocre at best. The flavors were a little underwhelming, and the quantities were really tiny.

(Overall: D) - Tagmo is an upscale Indian restaurant on the Michelin Guide, which I'd assume would be a relatively safe choice to try. Unfortunately, their Michelin guide prices are not backed by Michelin quality food. I was really let down by the fact that this Michelin Guide restaurant serves very pedestrian Indian food at non-pedestrian prices. The entire experience just left me with nothing to complement except their Mango Cocktail, and even the alcohol from that isn't enough to mask the fact that I truly believe this restaurant should not be a recommended. (Butter Chicken: F) - While the chicken is nice and tender, the flavors are a bit mild and the portion size is incredibly small. I would price this dish at a third of the current price. The presentation is dull and needs significant work. (Methi Paratha: F) - While this bread is reasonably flavored, I see no difference between this $8 version compared to the $2 pedestrian version, which is bad because Michelin quality restaurants should be competent enough to make their own innovating spin on classics whether in presentation, flavor, or ideally both. (Malabar Paratha: F) - Exact same comments as the Methi Paratha.. not sure why I should be paying $6 for this compared to the $2 pedestrian version elsewhere if this just tastes like layered flour and nothing more. (Spicy Mango Soju: B) - This is the only thing I would recommend here -- I love the chili that complements the sweetness of the mango to create a contrast of two extreme flavors. With a bit of a presentational improvement, this would be a show stopper. -- Food: E Presentation: -1 Price: -2 Atmosphere: E Service: E Menu: E Overall: -3 D IG: @amei.eats

I'm an Indian citizen. Born and bred. Most overrated and overpriced Indian food places ever. Ordered chili noodles worth $15, portion size could barely feed one person. Service we as lacking too. Had to be reminded multiple times what my order was. Will never come back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Grits Recommendation for vegetarians: Would not recommend Vegetarian offerings: Not sure
