A place that suggests getting a passport just to eat in Japan. I think the quality of a donburi is determined by premium rice and the freshness of the toppings. Although the combination of rice and ingredients is simple, it creates a truly delicious dish. Due to its simplicity, it is vital to use honest and high-quality ingredients. That's what it is. At this place, however, the rice was excessively dry, and the toppings were overly spicy and salty. Even the miso soup served alongside was spicy. It felt like an inexperienced chef had thrown together food laden with artificial seasonings. My taste buds suffered. We tried three types: gyudon (beef), butadon (pork), and karaagedon (chicken). Each bowl was just barely passable due to the heavy seasoning. Taking a bite (of the butadon, for example) felt like chewing on old, dried-out rice paired with overly salty and spicy stir-fried pork (with peppery, burnt flavors). Trying the other two dishes left me speechless. The interior of the restaurant was very dark. They were playing Japanese anime videos, which made it hard to tell if it was a bar or a restaurant. The dim lighting made it difficult to enjoy the colors of the food or the overall ambiance. It’s infuriating to receive such poor quality for the price you pay. This restaurant was one such case. I hope others aren’t deceived by the photos on blogs. The presentation might look convincing, but it doesn’t reflect the actual experience.
