Takechan is a modest restaurant located in the Shiba area of Minato, known for its unique standing-style service specializing in Kushiage, a deep-fried skewer delicacy. Near Tamachi Station on the JR Yamanote line, this eatery provides a glimpse into an authentic izakaya experience. Patrons are expected to enjoy their skewers in a specific manner, dipping them into Worcestershire sauce just once — a tradition in this style of cuisine.
The ambiance is casual and lively, attracting mostly business people unwinding after work with a cold beer in hand, as noted by past visitors. It operates from Monday to Friday, open in the evenings from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM, providing a simple dinner menu and serving beer. Despite the mention of affordable pricing, the absence of detailed, recent reviews makes it challenging to offer further insights, suggesting a potential lack of updates or changes in ownership.
Regrettably, details regarding the availability of reservations, credit card payments, and outdoor seating rest missing, hinting at a richly traditional yet straightforward dining environment. Visitors should be prepared to immerse themselves in the tradition of standing deistically at the counter, making it perhaps a different kind of dining adventure. Those looking for contemporary amenities might need to explore elsewhere, as Takechan remains untouched by modernization according to its available information.

Tasty kushiage and kushikatsu fried right in front of you. You can order a small number of items at a time if you prefer them to be freshly fried and hot since otherwise, the chef will fry and serve everything to you one after another at once and they cool down while you eat. English menu was provided the moment they realized I am a foreigner. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
