Dined at Takrai with the JW MARIOTT dining voucher that was included in our room rates. For dinner, we chose a starter, main and dessert. My Tom yum goong had 2 seriously large prawns. Followed by mains of crab curry with vermicelli noodles and finished off with a must have mango sticky rice. The other family members ordered other items and all were good. There was also a good variety of vegetarian options. Service can be a bit slow as it was a very busy night but all the staff are well trained and very helpful.

Perhaps because it is local, it was rated as the best restaurant in the resort. The fried rice is good, and the fried food and somttang are also delicious. The outdoor table atmosphere at night is really nice. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

ENGLISH The Ta-Krai is a Thai restaurant which offers a traditional seating area in addition to normal tables - so the culinary experience is also a cultural experience. Ta-Krai is located on the grounds of JW Marriott Khao Lak. The service was excellent, the staff thoroughly courteous and all food and drinks reached us quickly. Here you will find authentic food from the most diverse regions of Thailand - but above all you get a lot of what is usually served rather seldom. For example, the starter Miang Kham, consisting of components that you do yourself on a plants leaf to then fold this and consume. The leaves used are usually the edible leaves of the purple coral tree or, as in our case, the Thai pepper leaf. Common ingredients include lime, minced ginger, red onion, grated coconut, diced mango (sour), chopped chillies, chopped peanuts & tamarind sauce. A very special culinary taste experience, which should not be missed in Ta-Krai. After that we decided to order some classics such as spring rolls (these were provided with a special Ta Krai filling), TomYam Goong (the classic Thai soup with shrimp - without coconut milk), Gaeng KiewWan (green Thai curry) and a Gaeng Massaman (Muslim curry with potatoes & chicken). Especially the Massaman curry had an excellent and special taste, of course, the other dishes were delicious too. Finally, there had next to a smartly prepared coconut ice cream and the baked banana a panna cotta from the coconut milk - a real taste experience and in my view highly recommended! Note: Due to the redesign of the Ta-Krai & Sakura restaurants, you may find them at an alternate location on the grounds of the JW Marriott for a transitional period - if this is the case, have a site plan at the hotel reception desk . We then decided on some classics such as spring rolls (although these had a special Ta-Krai filling), TomYam Goong (the classic Thai soup with shrimp - without coconut milk), Gäng KiewWan (green Thai curry) and a Gäng Massaman (Mulim curry with potatoes & chicken). The Massaman Curry in particular had an excellent and special taste, although the other dishes were of course also delicious. At the end, in addition to a cleverly prepared coconut ice cream, baked banana, there was also a panna cotta made from coconut milk - a real taste experience and, in my opinion, highly recommended!
