We’d been wanting to try Tangier Moroccan Restaurant since moving here a year ago, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The space is warm, charming, and intimate, and the hospitality was just as memorable. The woman serving us was incredibly welcoming—and may have also been the cook and owner. The food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and served in very generous portions. I loved the lamb shawarma and warm pita straight from the oven. My mint lemonade was delicious, and my husband’s Turkish coffee may have converted me from my lifelong cappuccino devotion. A wonderful downtown find with authentic hospitality, beautiful ambiance, and truly delicious food. Highly recommend. My husband and I went here for Valentine’s Day. It was a place we stumbled upon after failing to make a reservation elsewhere on a very popular night! When I tell you that this restaurant blew our expectations out of the water!!! It was incredible. The service marvelous; you can tell everything is hand made and made with love! The lamb shank was a 15/10! Highly recommend this place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One of my favourite places for Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine is at Tangier Restaurant here in Portland. The prices are good and the food is delicious - NO SALT OR PEPPER NEEDED - they have a unique flavour that is all their own. My last visit I ordered a Middle Eastern staple, the chicken shawarma sandwich with salad and hummus, and it was awesome, as per usual. Their bread is homemade, and the food is never lacking in flavour! The friendly young woman that waited on me, she does carry outs there too, and I tell you I've waited less time at their restaurant during a busy lunch hour than I have at lines or waiting on an order at any of the various food carts downtown. The atmosphere, art, and decor are very chill and it's a lovely place to dine at. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
