This place was great to stay. The owner and staff are very welcoming and polite. Speak good english and always willing to help if needed. The rooms are very spacious and cleaned everyday. We had the double room downstairs with the little garden. Bathroom is good size and seperate toilet which was great. Only downfall is the location is a bit out of the main areas of Kyoto but honestly was nice to go back after a busy day to peace and quiet. 10 mins walk to the bus stop or we just caught an uber in to town which was about $1500-2000 yen depending on the time. Would recommend this place for a group or couple as they have a big room with four bedrooms also and upstairs is one queen bed. It also has a tea room and tatami room upstairs. Service: 5

Hotel Tanoya is a lovely, quiet, and historic inn. Ms. Tano is a wonderful innkeeper. The setting is genuine and peaceful. Tanoya was very convenient by bus to all our sightseeing destinations and neighborhood fetured several small and welcoming restaurants (Yamani Sushi and Bar Izzy) where we could end out full days of touring.
