Tanuki Restaurant, nestled in the Shintomi area on 2 Chome street, offers a quintessential Japanese dining experience. This cozy establishment is reminiscent of an old-fashioned izakaya rather than a contemporary one, providing a welcoming atmosphere for groups and solo diners alike. The menu features an array of Japanese dishes, with patrons noting the quality of offerings such as ham katsu, complemented by a variety of small plates and alcoholic beverages including beer.
Although Tanuki is described as a pleasant and lively spot that appears to attract regulars, it might be prudent to check its operation status as there is no recent information on whether it is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays. The restaurant accepts reservations, which may be advisable given its welcoming charm and potential popularity among locals and travelers.
There are amenities like a toilet available, but potential visitors should note the absence of wheelchair-accessible facilities. Despite the lack of modern inclusions, Tanuki seems to maintain a vibrant ambiance complete with karaoke and is noted for its convivial setting. Regular opening hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, mostly evenings, offering just enough time for a warm gathering. Regrettably, the owners have not provided newer details or updates about the establishment in recent times.

It is an old-fashioned izakaya where even one person can feel at home without feeling like a modern izakaya. The appetizer was also a handmade simmered dish. Please visit when you stop by Chiryu They may be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, so I think it would be better to contact them when you stop by.
