Nice quaint cafe off the highway with a few other stores. Food was spot on for a nice breakfast/brunch, followed by good coffee/hot chocolate. We had the avo toast, ham and cheese croissant and sausage roll. All good. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Tarras, a small rural settlement in Central Otago, has a rich history dating back to its establishment as a farming community in the late 1800s. Known for its picturesque landscapes and agricultural heritage, Tarras has grown to become a charming destination for travellers seeking a taste of New Zealand's countryside. I recently visited Tarras Country Cafe and was thoroughly impressed. This delightful cafe offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing meal. The menu features a wonderful selection of homemade dishes, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I particularly enjoyed their delicious pies and freshly baked scones, which were absolute highlights. The service at Tarras Country Cafe is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel right at home. The rustic decor and cozy ambiance add to the overall charm, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal. Tarras Country Cafe stands out not only for its fantastic food and service but also for its genuine connection to the local community and history. It's a must-visit for anyone passing through Tarras.
