A company who hires
Immigrants at a discount and then wants to stop them from unionizing when they have been treated unfairly should suffer the consequences. I pass on Tate’s and so should you.

I sent a review to Tate's Bake shop but never received a reply so I am posting this to inform others. Let me add that this most certainly could be an isolated incident and does not represent Tate's Bake Shop on the whole. This review has to do with the attention to detail and packaging - not the taste of the product. What a disappointment. I ordered the tower of baked goods - over $120 incl shipping for the Dessert Party Tower. I sent it to my elderly brother and his wife. I requested a specific day of arrival but it arrived almost 2 days later. I'm sure Tate will blame UPS but Tate should have anticipated holiday delays and shipped it out earlier.According to my brother, he was shocked to see the condition of the packing box and product. He described the shipping box as old and beat up and looked like it had been recycled several times. Inside it looked like someone had just thrown in a bunch of boxes. Packing material was marginal at best. The ribbon that was to hold the tower together had come off. The cake (pastry) was squashed. The lid was off of the pie and was upside down and fell out when he picked it up. It looked like plastic was there to hold the pie in but it was off as well. Each lid was glued to the next box. So when he picked up the box the contents of the next box fell out.He couldn't believe that a company would ever let something like that out of their store. He has never mentioned if the baked products were good as I'm sure he figured that if the packaging was a mess then the product must be inferior as well. I wonder if the CEO of Tate drives a beat up old car and says how great the engine is. Who would believe it or even care.My brother concluded that the company was in a hurry and did a sloppy "rush" job to get it out of the door. Proper and careful packaging along with attention to detail should have held the tower in place and prevented damage. Attention to detail and pride of ownership would have assured a quality product was being sent out. My brother said he has had many packages deliver to him over the years and this was the worst.May I suggest Tate look at Harry and David for quality packaging. They certainly take pride in their products. For the price I paid I expected a quality product - I'm embarrassed as it looks like I sent my brother a cheap gift that was from some cheap store.I was hoping that my brother and his wife would be so impressed that I would have a gift to send them every year. Not so after this. And I'm not going to order again.
