Tava Restaurant has a genuinely welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and our server Louis made the experience even more enjoyable. He was warm, attentive, and shared that he’s not only fluent in German but also an accomplished Greek dancer, such a lovely personal touch that added charm to our visit. We were pleased to try the two‑course lunch menu. We began with the stuffed vine leaves and the halloumi. The vine leaves had a nice flavour, though the leaves were a little firm and the filling could have used a touch more seasoning. The sauce at the base was lovely and tradional, and overall we enjoyed the dish. The halloumi itself was very tasty, though the presentation felt a little dry; even a light honey drizzle or similar glaze could have lifted it visually and added balance. For our mains, we chose the falafel and hummus platter, which was pleasant, though the hummus was slightly dry and could have used more tahini—though that may come down to personal preference. A little quality olive oil on top would have added richness and flavour. The falafel had good seasoning, even if I personally prefer a more traditional shape. The chicken skewer with rice was our final dish. Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and lacked flavour and char, which made it less enjoyable. Most dishes were served with fresh salad, but the dressing tasted only of oil; a hint of vinegar, Turkish spices, or even some texture—like crisp fried pita—could really elevate it. The chicken dish in particular would have benefitted from a squeeze of lemon and perhaps a slightly larger portion, ideally served on a skewer for presentation. The balloon bread was enjoyable, though it could be even better with a herb butter brushed over the top rather than cubed butter on the side, also over floured... One thing we feel strongly about is that Turkish restaurants shine when they offer toum, traditional chilli sauce, and pickles alongside meals. These small additions give diners the chance to enhance flavours to their own taste and really complete the experience. We love supporting small businesses in Stirling, and we’re confident Tava has amazing potential. Louis’s warmth and personality were a real highlight, and we hope this feedback helps the restaurant continue growing from good to great. X Wishing Tava the BESTX.
