Great food, good service and not too expensive. If you want a “proper “ Greek dining experience then you’ll not go too far wrong here.
Descend the small flight of steps into the tavern, and you will find a classic dining area with wooden barrels and good vibes. I walked in at half past 6 and the restaurant was not crowded at all. Within one minute a waiter came and took my order. He was very helpful and he even recommended a daily special for me, which I ordered. It is cabbage-wrapped beef with rice, in egg-lemon sauce. Bread was complementary. It was coarse and rather dry compared to the average complementary baguette served pre-meal in restaurants in France. In my opinion the bread was powdered with slightly too much flour, which noticeably clung to my hands somewhat similar to how chalk does to those of a gymnast, though to a lesser extent.
My husband and I ate at Taverna Saita after a recommendation from a local merchant. We enjoyed the Greek Salad, Fried Eggplant and Gyro platter. All dishes were fantastic and the service was great.
