Hey everyone, here is my review: We visited Taybat Restaurant at the Grand Millennium Muscat for what was advertised as a "Theme Night Buffet," and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Before coming, we specifically called to make a reservation and confirmed that the theme night was taking place as scheduled so no one comes back at me and say why did you accept and whats not! We were assured that everything was on, which is why we made the trip and expected the full theme-night experience. However, upon arrival, we were surprised to learn that the restaurant was closed due to low bookings and that guests were being moved to a smaller restaurant next door :))). To make matters worse, the manager loudly called us back from the corridor, which felt more like a marketplace sales pitch than a five-star hotel experience. We've attended Taybat's theme nights several times before, so we know exactly what to expect variety, international flavors, multiple cuisines, and a buffet that genuinely reflects the advertised theme. This time, however, it was nothing like the "Taybat theme nights" we had previously enjoyed. The buffet looked appealing at first, especially the starters and desserts, but the food itself did not match the "theme night" concept. Nearly every station was focused on "Indian cuisine", and we struggled to find the international variety that was being advertised. The biggest disappointment was the grilled food. The shawarma and skewers were marinated so heavily with spices that the actual flavor of the meat was completely lost. We understand that spices are an important part of many cuisines, but when every bite tastes overwhelmingly of seasoning, you can no longer appreciate the quality of the ingredients. We tried a few chicken and meat skewers and simply couldn't finish them. What puzzled us was the lack of variety in flavors. If this was meant to be an international theme night, why not explore different styles of marinades and preparations? Mediterranean, Lebanese, Asian, Turkish, and other international cuisines offer fantastic ways to season and grill meat while still letting the natural flavors shine through. Today, inspiration is everywhere even a quick search can introduce countless authentic recipes and techniques. Instead, the buffet felt limited to one dominant flavor profile. The desserts, salads looked great, and the sushi, while perhaps a 4.5/10, still showed effort and was enjoyable. Most importantly, the serving staff were kind, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. What disappointed us most was that this wasn't our first Taybat theme night we know how good they can be. That's why the difference was so noticeable. If guests are paying for a themed international buffet, the food selection should reflect that. Otherwise, it should not be marketed as a theme night. A special mention to the serving staff, who were the highlight of the evening despite the shortcomings in management, organization, and food quality. I had a very disappointing experience at this buffet and would not recommend it. The food was served cold, which immediately made it unappetizing. A buffet should offer fresh and properly heated dishes, but that was clearly not the case here. The selection was also extremely limited. Most of the options felt like basic “beginner” foods, with very little variety or creativity. For a buffet, I expected a broader range of choices and a more enjoyable dining experience. To make matters worse, the service was practically nonexistent. There was no attention from staff, and no effort to ensure guests were comfortable or satisfied. Overall, the quality of both the food and service fell far below expectations. Unfortunately, this was a very underwhelming experience, and I won’t be returning. Timeless Journey

The moment the buffet counters come into view, Taybat Restaurant creates a welcoming atmosphere that blends Omani hospitality with the comfort of a well-organized dining experience. The dining hall feels bright and spacious, making it easy to settle in and enjoy a relaxed meal whether visiting for breakfast, lunch, or a family gathering. The sight of freshly prepared dishes arranged across the buffet adds a sense of anticipation before the first plate is even served. The strength of this restaurant lies in its variety. The buffet offers a selection of Arabic, Omani, and international dishes, allowing guests to sample multiple flavors in one visit. Fresh salads, hot main courses, grilled specialties, and desserts provide something for different tastes and age groups. Visitors should arrive hungry and take time to explore the full buffet before filling a plate, as some of the most enjoyable dishes can be found beyond the first serving stations. The spacious seating and comfortable layout make it suitable for families, business lunches, and group dining. Peak meal periods can be busier, so arriving slightly earlier often provides a more relaxed experience. A memorable visual is the row of steaming buffet trays releasing the aroma of freshly prepared dishes while families and friends gather around large tables, creating a warm and communal dining atmosphere. Taybat Restaurant is best suited for buffet lovers, family gatherings, corporate lunches, visitors staying in Muscat hotels, and anyone looking for a varied buffet restaurant in Muscat with generous food selection, comfortable seating, and a welcoming environment that encourages sharing good food and good conversation.
