Food and service are great. There’s a wide variety of oysters, and the tanks are in the middle of the restaurant. Pretty lighting and the atmosphere works for a romantic date or friendly hangout. It’s bar stool seating and not ADA friendly if you use a wheelchair. There’s an 18% service charge automatically added. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–60 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Visiting Seattle for the first time, I was really looking forward to coming here after looking up some places that were popular for some seafood or highly recommended. Upon walking in, we noticed the server was pretty quick to take the initiative to push a couple high tops together since most of the tables only sat 2. We also had a child with us so he offered us a booster seat. I feel like that was the last time we were treated pleasantly. Our server was very dry and direct when he approached us. I told him my husband has celiac and his response was “Ok.” I followed up with so can you tell us what options we have that are Gluten free friendly? (Didn’t think I needed to ask after mentioning a severe allergy) He just stepped away and looked like he was trying to find out from someone in the kitchen. He came back shortly after and gave us our options. We ordered a few different things to share, oysters, the fish dip and mussels tostada. The vibe we got was that he did not enjoy serving us because we had a child with us and I seem to be asking him too many questions. That is the impression he left with us. I will say the oysters were very fresh and enjoyable. We also got the crab Mac n cheese which was cheesy and tasty. We asked him for some more chips since we ran out quickly for the smoked oyster dip. He seemed annoyed but got us more. I could overhear that he sounded more pleasant with the other guests surrounding us. The mussels tostada flavors were nice but I didn’t love the texture of them which is totally just my preference. He dropped off the check shortly after and noticed there was a 18% gratuity which I found out is standard for downtown Seattle. Being in the industry I do think it’s a courtesy to mention it when dropping off the check to a guest. On another note, I did think the seafood tank in the center was cool because you could see all the geoduck and oysters they were offering. Overall, I think we wanted to enjoy our experience more but the servers attitude and demeanor towards us was off putting and we just tried to eat quickly and leave. Don’t think we’ll return to this location. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $30–40 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar on Melrose Avenue in Seattle on March 14, 2025. From the moment we arrived, Jessica made us feel warmly welcomed. We preferred not to sit at the long table facing the street, and she kindly accommodated us with a cozy table for two. We were especially looking forward to trying the Dungeness crab, and Jessica guided us through the menu with enthusiasm and thoughtful suggestions. We ended up ordering Oysters, the Whole Dungeness Crab, and the Moqueca Brazilian Shellfish Stew. The crab was incredibly fresh and delicious! Jessica truly elevated our experience with her warm demeanor, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality. Thank you, Jessica :) Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Whole Dungeness Crab
