This was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had in Europe. In broad daylight, our rental car was broken into and ALL of our belongings were stolen in Athens. This is not an isolated incident — when we went to the tourist police station, within just 20 minutes, three other people came in reporting the exact same situation. This clearly shows how widespread and frequent this problem is. Despite this, Auto Union Car Rental did NOT provide any warning at all. No advice about avoiding certain neighborhoods, no recommendation about safe parking, nothing — even though they are fully aware that this is a common issue. For a company operating in such an environment, this level of negligence is absolutely unacceptable. There are no visible security measures, no effective police response, and no meaningful support after the incident. It feels like tourists are completely exposed and left to deal with the consequences on their own. The complete lack of awareness, warning, and responsibility raises serious concerns about how normalized this situation has become. Athens may have historical beauty, but the level of insecurity and lack of basic precautions completely ruins the experience. If you are planning to visit, be extremely cautious — and NEVER leave anything in your car, even if it is hidden. Absolutely unacceptable. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
