Tenguya, nestled on Imafukucho Street in Ashikaga, is a cozy eatery offering a slice of nostalgic dining reminiscent of traditional Japanese diners from earlier times. This no-frills restaurant is popular with solo diners, and while it does not provide delivery, takeout and dine-in options are available for their noodle-centric menu. They serve quick bites, including some standout dishes like the acclaimed cutlet bowls, satisfying many taste buds over the years with their flavorful offerings. However, it’s worth noting that Tenguya operates on a cash-only basis.
Despite its charm, the restaurant is not fully accessible, lacking wheelchair-friendly entrances, seating, or parking. Speaking of parking, only one tricky spot is available adjacent to the building, so visitors are advised to be cautious. Getting assistance from staff isn't uncommon here when realigning vehicles. Although the most recent gut reactions have surfaced a year ago, it appears opinions have varied—while some rave about the taste, others have found fault with service during staff's occasional mood swings. Unfortunately, information on the current operating hours is unavailable, perhaps reflecting a need for updated public communication. Nonetheless, Tenguya remains a pocket-friendly choice for those seeking warm meals amid a throwback ambiance.

Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
