I’ve driven past this place for years on my way to Lubbock and finally stopped—so glad I did. The pastries were fresh, flaky, and honestly confirmed what I suspected . This is not just a roadside stop but a quality bakery. The cranberry orange loaf smelled incredible and tasted just as good. What really surprised me was the atmosphere. They have a really cute setup inside (even a record player!) and a nice outdoor area where you could actually sit and enjoy your coffee instead of rushing back to the car. If you’re driving through Menard, this is absolutely worth planning a short stop for—not just grabbing something and leaving. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Such a cute place to take a break and eat! The food was so fresh, healthy, and flavorful! We had the cob salad, chicken salad croissant, elderberry hibiscus tea, London fog, and a danish for lunch. It was ALL SO delicious! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife said, “Texas Scratch Kitchen may be the cutest place I’ve ever been to. It’s like a farmers market but inside and with amazing pastries.” Shoutout to Marshall, our HipCamp host for the recommendation.
