As a regular customer for over 6 years. I experienced the MOST uncomfortable situation with the OWNER of this establishment. I called 45 min prior to arriving to reserve my favorite table. I arrived, table was open and the owner insisted on seating me somewhere else. I explained to her that I called and she blatantly refused to sit me at my table. the place was not loaded with people and she told me that I had no chance to sit at my favorite table. she said she didn't care that I called and reserved and I was not to move to my spot. got up to leave and she told me she didn't care if I go and was ok with me leaving. o spend well over $7000 taking friends and family there every year. what a rude person. my Service animal SAKE and I will sadly never set foot in that place. I feel terrible for the staff there because they are all amazing people. I refuse to support that NASTY OWNER. so from now on. I will stop over and tip my favorite workers there and go eat elsewhere. Food was fine, atmosphere was fine, my friend paid cash on a large bill and left a 15% tip. Waitress came back with the bill 5 minutes after taking it and told us it was an unacceptable amount to leave on the bill. Admittedly my friend had miscounted the bills and meant to leave more, however, we were completely shocked and appalled at how rude they are. Will not ever be going back.

It was one of those days, that I wanted to get out of my hotel room, but wasn't feeling well enough to walk far. So instead of going a long way west to Duval, I went east. This took me to Hurricane Hole (according to my map). It's a picturesque place where I could relax, take a few photos, and start feeling better. After some time, I felt thirsty and wanting a cold beer. I remembered Thai Island Restaurant advertised in several sources of Key West information. Downstairs is a place, labeled 'The Happy Buddha Bar.' Inside looked like a regular dockside dive, dimly lit, quiet, and with a few men my age. I took a seat by an opened window, with the water right underneath me. There were only two beers on tap: the Funky Buddha Ale & Bud Lite. I tried the Funky Buddha because I never had it before. It was smooth but strong. The barkeeper is very friendly, like someone's loving grandpa. I ordered the salmon skin sushi roll & the "crazy roll." It was a refreshing & filling lunch and made my day.
