I visited Arepa Bar for the first time, and unfortunately it will likely be my last. The food itself was delicious, beautifully presented, and I genuinely enjoy Colombian cuisine. However, the pricing and billing practices were extremely disappointing. I went with another adult and three children (a party of five). The kids ordered from the kids’ menu, my meal was around $20, and the other adult’s was $29. We both ordered water, which was served in cups with ice — clearly tap water, not bottled. Yet the bill included three bottled waters, even though the children had sodas and the baby shared my water. On top of that, an automatic 18% gratuity was added. I understand gratuity for parties of six or more, but two adults and three children should not qualify. Especially considering that service was minimal: the server took our order and never returned to check on us, offer refills, or bring boxes — we had to get up and ask for them ourselves. I’m a generous tipper and always clean up after my kids, so being charged an automatic gratuity felt unfair, especially with service that barely met basic expectations. The gratuity alone was $29, and with the incorrect water charges, the total bill was nearly $160 — far too high for what we actually received. The food was great, but the pricing and added charges were unreasonable. With inflation already making dining out difficult, these practices make the experience feel unwelcoming and unrealistic for families. Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

This restaurant has a real colombian taste. We ordered picada Aguila. It was perfect to share with my husband. Good to share when you are hungry but not much. I also ordered a milhoja for dessert. Honestly, in my opinion, the best Milhoja in town. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
