The Boatshed Cafe in Lochgoilhead offers a delightful cafe experience with excellent coffee and toasties. The establishment boasts a stunning lochside location that is worth the drive, making it a great spot for a remote getaway. The cafe's interior design is rustic and charming, with bird feeders and birdhouses adorning the outside deck where patrons can enjoy their meals while taking in the beautiful view. The price range is reasonable, with good value for money considering the quality of the food and the location. The cafe is especially dog-friendly and offers gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions. The menu is limited but offers a variety of toasties, including the classic with gherkins and the barbecue chicken on gluten-free bread. They also have a selection of cakes and tarts, such as the red velvet cake and the lemon drizzle cake. The Boatshed Cafe offers a unique experience for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a peaceful meal in a beautiful setting.
I suspect this place has become a victim of its own success because we waited over 90 minutes and ended up leaving before we were given a table. The owner / manager came out several times to give us an update on timescales but was wildly inaccurate each time. We were told it was going to be 15 more minutes three times before we gave up - I suspect we were being told whatever he thought would keep us in the queue rather than just being honest about how long it was taking. They also had many clear & empty tables inside which they wouldn’t let people sit at. They advised that this was because there was a backlog in the kitchen. We understood that, but couldn’t understand why we weren’t allowed to sit inside and wait instead of being made to stand outside on a cold and wet day. The location is very picturesque and it’s a nice looking cafe but no cheese toastie could be worth a 90 minute queue and staff who lie to keep you in line. Service: 1

We had a lengthy wait, 35mins or so(was a Saturday afternoon, probably quieter during week). We wanted the hearty soup but none left by time we got to front of queue. We opted for scones and hot drinks and they were ok. The ‘manager’ kept the queue informed which helped boost the service score. The views from the seating outside are to die for. The only real negative for this place is the toilet. It was really quite awful, very much a ‘public’ toilet, the floor was swimming and it felt very dirty(not sure how much influence the proprietors of the Boatshed have on this). This apart, I’d happily visit here again. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
