A great stay, this is a gem of a hotel to find, amazing with dogs too. The hotel is situated directly next to many of the hiking or biking trials from the front door. Their attention to detail is the best Ive seen, they have loan wellies of every size from baby to adult! They left dog bowl, bed and towels in our room, reserved us a dog friendly table in the bar area, so many nice sweet touches you dont even find in 5 star hotels. The handyman/groundskeeper was very helpful with storing our bikes, all the staff were very pleasant, chatty and full of tips and advice for the area. We ate the restaurant menu in the var area, the food was very good, only the cheese board needs more soft cheeses ! The room was ground floor and opened to the gardens, just little thoughts like this for dog guests made it so special. Highly recommend this stay, well done the entire team. We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday. Rooms, service, food and ambience were all superb. The only negative is that the hotel is on the outskirts of Brockenhurst and there's not much to do within walking distance (apart from long strolls through the beautiful countryside), so you'll need a car. That said, its location makes it an ideal base for visiting Beaulieu, Lymington, Milford on Sea and Lyndhurst. We ate in the hotel restaurant on both nights, and whilst the menu isn't huge, we didn't have trouble finding dishes that we liked. Two special things to mention; drive carefully because the New Forest ponies get everywhere and walk around (quite rightly) like they own the place. The second is to praise Mandie, who was on the front desk and proved to be charming, knowledgable and really helpful. Thanks to all at the hotel for a lovely experience. Much to our dismay, our stay at Forest Park Country Hotel left much to be desired. I'm not sure if our substandard stay was purely an isolated incident, but we experienced several points of poor execution throughout. On a positive note, I will say that the hotel was decorated beautifully for the holiday season, and the staff were eager to please. We decided to stay for a luncheon, however my wife's stew contained either an expired broth or stock that left her sick for a majority of the afternoon. After we decided to dine in town for a new year's eve dinner, we came back to satisfy our sweet tooth. It explicitly stated that room service was available until 20:00 PM, but when we called to order room service at 18:52, the front desk tried to coax us into ordering from the tapas menu, yet we only wanted to order a small dish from the pudding menu. In many ways, we felt as though we'd been taken advantage of, or perhaps our meager request wasn't large enough to satisfy the needs of their overhead. Being that our room was located directly above the restaurant and bar, we suffered a fitful night's rest due to excessive noise traveling through the walls, which by the way carried on for hours on end. There were several areas of our bathroom that had peeling paint throughout, the windows wouldn't allow for air flow, and for the rate we paid, we felt as though it wasn't congruous with the level of accommodations that should've been provided. Sadly, our stay wouldn't warrant anything above 2 stars. For a new year's eve rate, we expected higher standards.
