I got an email saying it's closed - I'm devastated! The food is amazing and I will forever miss the shrimp and grits R.I.P.

Intimate, romantic spot whose simple, but unusual decor reminds one a bit of a sea voyage somewhere between Europe and America in the time when Hemingway was out and about writing about his travels. The service is excellent and unpretentious, and the cocktails are superb, impressing with their creativity: imagine a sprinkle of Laphroaig over an otherwise pleasantly luscious and frothy concoction. The food is lovely as well, especially the seafood tower, but I will return primarily for the atmosphere and the drinks.

The Commodore has an obviously nautical theme to it with decorative portholes on the ceiling, and with the restaurant being a fairly tight space, it does have a ship like feel, which I enjoyed.

Service was friendly, but admittedly fairly slow- nothing terrible, just slow.

The food was delicious overall, and I can't think of a bad dish. My favorites were the Cape Breton shrimps which came on pieces of toasted sourdough bread and soaked in a seasoned butter, and also the halibut ceviche. Their oysters were great as well, and we're an assortment of Canadian east coast oysters.

Highly recommended!
