Very disappointing dinner. Our appetizers were delivered before our drinks and water. We finished eating before they ever came. We also needed to ask for plates to eat the apps. My wife's dinner came out without the potatoes, my seafood came out spicy when I ordered it without spice based on the servers suggestion and my friend's steak was a filet and not strip as he ordered. Our wives ended up eating their meals before my friends steak came back and before my meal came out. Food was very good as were the drinks but we ended up all eating more or less separately which was a bit disappointing. I emailed the restaurant and never got a response which is also disappointing. Being poorly prepared for our early Valentine's Day dinner on Monday the 13th, I was without a reservation to any nice non-chain restaurant. My wife and I happened upon River: A Waterfront Restaurant and Bar, whose online reservation through Open Table easily granted us a reservation at 5:45PM. If you're using your GPS to take you here, you may be skeptical like we were. You will drive to an industrial complex with a Xerox sign on top of a multi-story building, but keep an eye out as small signs that says "River Restaurant" will assure you you're in the right place. Park, head inside the building, and make your way all the way to the back and you will find this charming and cool spot. We were seated inside (it was too cold to eat outside) right by the window. As you can see in the picture, it offers a terrific view of the river and the bridge. I can only imagine what this place would look like in the fall! As for the food, the offerings are a tad limited, which can be a good thing - you'll see the normal offerings for appetizers for an Italian restaurant, a few soups and salads, and a small selection of entrees - mostly steak and pasta dishes. We got the calamari, which were crispy and well-seasoned and fried mozzarella, which was melty, but lacking a bit in seasoning. The entrees were fantastic! The panko-crusted pork chop was massive and cooked to perfection. If you're a big eater, you may want to order a side dish as it only comes with greens on top. My wife ordered the New York Strip, which I believe was 12 oz and comes with 2 sides - she opted for the seasonal vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, and onions) that had a nice sourness to it, and truffle fries (decently crispy and salty). Steak was cooked as ordered, and had a good crust and well-seasoned - no need for salt or A-1 there! The desserts we ordered was from the Valentine's Day menu, so not sure about it's availability. One was a called "My Man's a Millionaire," which is vanilla ice cream encased with a chocolate sphere coated in gold (don't know if it's real gold dust, not that I care about eating real gold) with crumbled shortbread cookies l surrounding the plate. You pour salted caramel which melts the sphere to reveal then ice cream - such a fun experience. We also got red velvet cake to take home, which was average, nothing to write home about. Overall it was a great experience and we'll probably be back in the fall for a special occasion. The higher price range keeps it from being a regular part of date nights, but if you have the scratch, definitely stop by!
