Mikaela (not sure spelling but the hostess) made my night!! She was great even though there was a small wait. She referred us to another Atlas bar in the complex that was exactly what we were looking for. When we came back to The Elk Room, she sat us right away. We had a great time and that was all thanks to the Atlas staff! Price per person: $30–50 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I didn't have any food this time, so I have a mid rating just to give one. I'll update the next time I come... Service gets a two because, when I walked in, although a server could see me waiting, he kept walking around and didn't seat me, so I just sat myself. Initial attention at the bar was good, but when I created a coffee cocktail, the person who waited in me brought me barely warm coffee. He improvised along with bringing me cream, but the fact that I had to modify the times was disappointing (especially. because of the price). Finally, when I went to the restroom, I returned to find subsume in my seat, and after finding another cozy seat, I was asked to move to accommodate a group-- although there was enough seating for them to go elsewhere-- without any apology-- even after I pointed out that I already had to move once... It was irritating. The atmosphere is spot on, though, and I enjoyed the music thoroughly. Despite the close proximity of the band, the music was at a perfect volume. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5

OMG…where do I start……Husband and I went to the Elk Room last weekend. This is a “speakeasy” next to the Tagliata Restaurant in Baltimore, MD. We sat down at the bar and mentioned to the Bartender, Miles, that we were celebrating our birthdays. He goes on to tell us “today is my birthday” and that he was out celebrating the night before. Trying to decide what to order for a cocktail and Miles asked what we normally like to drink. I told him I like Dirty Martini’s, not too dirty. He says he can make me a drink that I would love, with mushroom infusion. I am assuming the infusion was one of the many filled beakers, with secret ingredients, that were in front on the bar. He mixed the drink together and presented it to me. I took one sip of the drink, it was so awful, it tasted like a glass of vinegar! I said that to Miles and he said, well that’s the pickling. He never mentioned that anything was pickled and why would I want a lot of pickling in my dirty martini, especially after I told him that I do not like a lot of olive juice!? I thought I would try the drink a second time to see if I was missing something, because these bartenders are charging a lot of money for these cocktails and they must know what they are doing…..right? Well, I just could not drink the martini. Miles said no problem, got rid of the drink and asked me what else I wanted. I was not going to order another dirty martini for fear of what he would concoct next, so I settled for what my Husband was having, since I already tasted his, a Manhattan ($16). So, thinking I am going to get a good Manhattan, like my Husband had…..no……it was a Manhattan minus the bourbon, with lots of vermouth! Decided to order an appetizer to see if the night would get any better. We ordered the chicken liver bruschetta. Unfortunately is was nothing like the description, just chicken pate smeared on very hard crostini and was not worth the money we paid for it. After watching the other Bartender make a drink for the couple sitting next to us, we asked them what the drink was and how did it taste and they said the drink was good and strong. We now realized that Miles was either still drunk from the night before or he was still celebrating his Birthday while working. He kept dropping things and banging into the counters. When Miles asked us if we wanted another drink, we tried to overlook the fact that we had the “wrong Bartender” and asked for two drink specials, a play on an Old Fashioned ($8 each), which is what the gentleman next to us had (made by the “other” Bartender). Sadly, these two drinks were bad as well. I think Miles was saving all the alcohol for himself, because there was no alcohol in ours. I just think that because he was either hungover, drunk or so busy that he would get so confused to whether or not he had put alcohol in the drink to begin with! $70 plus a basic tip later and out the door we went. Will not go back again. If you are ever in Bethlehem, PA, go to the "Bookstore Speakeasy" on Adams Street. This is really what a speakeasy is all about.
