The food was nice but I’m not sure why it’s Michelin rated. We were with a larger group and the consensus was that we would not desire to come back. I was surprised the bread was brought way after the appetizers. Especially since the appetizers would be great with bread. The main dishes were actually smaller than the appetizers. We came on a Saturday and the place was full and super loud. It was very hard to have a conversation. Not sure this is the case on other week days. My recent visit to The Factory Kitchen in the Arts District could have been more impressive, especially considering it's a Michelin recommendation (I've realized at this point that means absolutely nothing considering how many Michelin recommendations I've been to that was an absolute blow). The Factory Kitchen's menu items, which seemed promising at first glance, left much to be desired in terms of both quality and value. The Cannoli, typically a delightful Italian dessert with ricotta, orange, and pistachio, was marred by an imbalance in flavors. Rather than the harmonious blend one expects, the dish was overly sweet, failing to showcase the subtlety of its ingredients. 3/5. The Pappardelle, a pasta dish that should be a testament to Italian culinary simplicity and elegance, could have been better. The oxtail sugo, which should have been rich and flavorful, was overwhelmingly salty, detracting from the overall taste and quality of the dish. 2.5/5. Equally disheartening was the Porchetta. While this dish traditionally revels in its succulent and herb-infused qualities, what was served was a dry, over-seasoned rendition that lacked the juiciness and depth of flavor one would anticipate from such a classic. 3.5/5. Adding to the dissatisfaction was the rushed service. Despite being a table of six with a reservation, the server seemed more interested in turning over the table than providing an enjoyable dining experience, making the entire meal feel hurried and unwelcoming. 2/5. The ambiance was great; small and tight, but homey feeling. 5/5. Despite its prestigious recommendation, the Factory Kitchen failed to deliver on both the culinary and service fronts. The combination of overpriced, small portions and overly salty dishes made for a disappointing experience that could have lived the expectations set by its Michelin Guide recognition. There are PLENTY of better open-kitchen Italian restaurants that offer handmade pasta and traditional Italian dishes.
