Dropped in for coffee and toasted teacakes, all very nice. The staff are pleasant and friendly. Plenty of free parking. Would go there again if passing the door. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: £1–10

I visited The Farmyard Kitchen with my partner about a week ago and was happy enough with update to the place. We had a couple of drinks and shared some cake, which was nice. My partner has visited again today with our two year old child and I am afraid I won’t be visiting again based on what I have been told. For context, my partner is heavily pregnant and wanted to buy a coffee and let our two year old play on the outdoor equipment. When visiting today, my partner has been told that our child cannot use the outdoor play equipment unless she purchases a meal, which she had no intention of buying. It appears they have allowed access to the play area if she bought cake on this occasion, but this wasn’t the preferred option. What I am unimpressed with is that there is nothing to indicate this policy at all when you visit The Farmyard Kitchen, and it’s not fair to drop this policy on parents when they are with children who already have their mind set on playing on that equipment. I am afraid this seems to be a continuation of the failed approach of a “play area membership” of the previous incarnation of the place. It would be a perfectly nice place to go for a coffee, sit outside and let the children play, but I won’t be going again because of this unwritten policy. I hope this informs others before visiting and perhaps consider going somewhere else. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Kid-friendliness: No, completely focused on profit over service.
