Going to try and keep this short and sweet but think twice before visiting The George Inn Mere. We stayed for 2 nights. Had a wedding nearby so 8 of us stayed here (family) first night we had dinner. No one was satisfied with their dinner. I had a seafood platter which was disappointing to say the least but worse of all there were actual STONES in my salad. Small stones and grit. I chipped my tooth. The Moussaka was dry and lacked flavour. We are not ones to complain but we had no choice but to politely say something and showed them the stone. Upon checkout my father was charged FULL price for the unacceptable meal. They had not done a thing about it. So cheeky of them! Since returning I have written to them. The response I got was rude, Unempathetic, unsympathetic, no apology, no resolution. The WORST service I’ve ever received from the owner/ manager Paul. We now have to spend more of our time taking this further. Our whole family are very disappointed, offended and would warn anyone who’s thinking of staying here!
One a lighter note there was a very friendly lovely lady who worked there, I didn’t get her name but the Ukrainian lady but that was the only positive to the whole stay.

Such a beautiful place, i am so glad i booked here for me and my other half’s 5 year anniversary, staff were lovely, booking was hassle free, food was beautiful and the atmosphere and decor was super cosy and romantic definitely 5* from us ????
