Motel has a bit of asylum feel to it, room walls are paper thin! Really thin!!! I could here everything next door and in the corridor! Time for some proper renovation.

We stayed here for a few days the staff are fantastic friendly and very helpful when it came to suggestions for things to do in the area. So close to the beautiful King Valley and Stanley and Mount Buffalo just to name a few areas that we day tripped too. The hotel itself is set in the grounds of what was Mayday Hills, Beechworth Hospital. What a fantastic place. There is the option of the GK Hotel and also the Linaker building which is a 1930's Art Deco building which originally was the the nurses quarters. They have beautiful established gardens and so close (walking distance) to the Historic town of Beechworth. There was a wedding in progress when we arrived, and we thought what great setting to get married in. They have a chapel on the grounds as well as a great restaurant and functions room, where they had the reception and to top it off they are also right next door to The Spa at Beechworth.The first night we ate at the restaurant "Georges" , then we had breakfast the next morning and then lunch , we knew we had to try other restaurants in the area which we did , but seriously we could have just stayed at the George and ate our way through the menu. It has a french bistro fare that is to die for. The Chef Tim is really kicking goals there.We highly recommend The George Kerferd Hotel for anyone visiting the NE of Victoria . It is so central to everything.
