The Clayton Hotel is beautiful. The reception staff are friendly and competent. The rooms are tidy but are getting old. The restaurant looks classy and is spacious. However, that was it. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our drinks to receive the wrong drinks. After they were brought the wrong way again we had to be content to be able to drink at all. The food came after about 2 hours. The salad was very good. However, it was served at different times. Plates were then cleared away while people ate their freshly received salad. The main course was then quickly served. This was satisfactory, but not at a 4 star level for a long time. The dessert was still frozen even though it was supposed to be served warm. All in all, the restaurant is absolutely not recommended. Unfortunately, this experience made the entire stay unpleasant. Rooms: Our room was classy. A large bed and a large flat screen TV. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. Lack of insulation between the bedroom area and the corridor. Otherwise spacious room. Location close to bus and train stops. The building is magnificent. Breakfast is complete with lots of choice. Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value

Visited after rugby match in the Aviva. Looking for something to eat. Was informed that the kitchen was closed and there was a limited menu. Had the worst meal I have ever been served in any hotel. Having received the menu and paid 23 euros in advance, I went to the food service area. It was obviously the breakfast service area with the labels for breakfast items still on the service dishes. The food available looked like it had been cooked after breakfast. Cold soggy burgers wedges chips chicken and curry. How any hotel management or chief executive could have thought that this was an acceptable style of food to serve to their guests. I was as embarrassed as a Dubliner to see numerous residents trying to eat something as there was nothing else available. There were a lot of hotel employees wandering around with no one seemingly taking charge or rectifying the situation One of the items was burger buns being burnt by a breakfast bed toaster. A man in a suit said he would slow it down and did bring me a burger bun some 20 minutes later after I had sat down. Do not consider this for a meal until this is rectified and full kitchen service is restored. Service: 2 Location: 4
