First time visiting here and I was really impressed. The staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the food and drinks were lovely. Couldn’t find any faults. The Green is a quiet, friendly cafe that will almost certainly become a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike. They have a good selection of sweet treats (including a dairy-free option, which is nice to see), a decent menu for those looking for a bite to eat, and their coffee seems to get better with every visit. The star of the show, however, is by far the staff. They're just really nice people and are polite, friendly, and attentive in the service they provide. My only minor suggestion to the owners would be to maybe have some more comfy/relaxed seating for people who want to sit and read, work, or doodle with a coffee rather than eat a meal. Exceptional baking. Perfection on a plate. We were visiting York for the day and chanced upon this wonderful cafe. We went twice! For morning coffee and for me a slice of the lightest fluffiest lemon drizzle cake and for Mr B the best almond croissant he has ever tried and he’s had a few. We then had lunch and the home made potato bread (not to be confused with an Irish potato flat bread) was pillowy, light and utterly divine. Special attention is paid to the fillings and the tuna in my spicy tuna sandwich was delicious. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
