We had a wonderful stay at the Jesse Hotel & Bar in Reno. The team made a great first impression at check-in. The Jesse uses a modern QR-based access system, but because I booked through a third-party site, the reservation information wasn’t transmitted correctly and I couldn’t access our suite through the QR process. Rather than making it a hassle, the staff jumped into action, quickly verified the reservation, and got everything sorted out. What could have been an inconvenience became a great example of customer service. The hotel itself is remarkable. Housed in a historic building more than a century old, the Jesse strikes an impressive balance between contemporary design and the character of its original architecture. Thoughtful modern touches blend seamlessly with period details and infrastructure. Our suite featured soaring ceilings, beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows, and restored original wood floors that gave the space both warmth and authenticity. It felt stylish and current without losing the sense of history that makes the building special. The only member of our party with a complaint was my miniature poodle, Hillary. While she enjoyed the hotel, the historic staircase leading to the third floor was decidedly not to her liking. She spent several minutes studying the situation, weighing her options, and negotiating with gravity before ultimately accepting defeat and allowing herself to be carried. Her sister, Milla, viewed this as a personal victory. For the humans, however, the stairs were a small tradeoff for a unique and memorable stay. We’d happily return and highly recommend the Jesse to anyone looking for a boutique hotel experience that combines great service, thoughtful design, and a genuine sense of place in Reno. Service: 5

Thank you for the thoughtful review and for highlighting how our team handled the QR-access issue — we’re delighted you enjoyed the mix of modern design and historic character in your suite. We’re sorry Hillary found the third-floor staircase challenging but glad Milla celebrated, and we look forward to welcoming you both back to the Jesse Hotel & Bar.

Gorgeous room! So comfortable: perfect bed and amazing bedding, blackout curtains, Grown Alchemy products, exposed brick, a cozy rug and sitting area, tall ceilings and a beautiful plant in my room. I’d absolutely stay here again. Plus - check-in was super easy (despite a 1 am arrival), and the staff was great. Service: 5

Copying the sentiments of the review before me. Mixed emotions about this hotel. Check-in was brutal. We booked all six rooms. The owner was there at check in but 1) gave me the wrong codes to the rooms and 2) refused to give me codes to all the rooms 2 hours before check in even though five of the six were ready. The room is absolutely beautiful. Big bathroom/shower. Nicely furnished and a great comfortable bed. The second floor rooms get a lot of noise from the lobby bar so beware. The street noise wasn’t as bad as advertised in the reviews but we also visited on mlk weekend so the cold may keep the streets quieter. The walls are thin like most hotel so do prepare to sleep with earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Neighborhood is akin to lower nob hill or the mission in San Francisco. Lot of rift raft but nothing dangerous. Free parking is nice but don’t leave stuff in your car overnight (as in San Francisco). I’d stay here again only jf we booked all rooms. There’s no common space in the lobby so you’re SOL if the lobby bar/cafe is closed. Service: 1

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, we truly appreciate the thoughtful feedback. We wanted to clarify the check-in moment you mentioned. Since all six rooms were booked under a single name, there was a brief passcode mix-up at arrival, which we were able to resolve shortly after. We’re sorry for the initial confusion and appreciate your patience. Regarding early check-in: while some rooms were being finalized, our standard policy offers early check-in as a paid option. That said, as a courtesy, we were happy to provide complimentary early check-in for your own room, and we’re glad we could accommodate that for you. We’re really pleased to hear that you loved the room, the comfort of the bed, and the bathroom that means a lot to us. As a small boutique hotel with an active bar downstairs, some ambient sound can be part of the experience, especially during lively weekends, and we appreciate your understanding. Thank you again for staying with us. We’re glad you’d consider returning, and we’d love to host you again in the future.
