The Kitchen Focacceria in Basel is a fine dining spot that specializes in Pinsa, the ancient Roman version of pizza. The establishment has a quaint and cozy ambiance with only a few tables available for seating. The interior design is simple but clean, giving off a warm and welcoming vibe. The price range is fair, with Pinsas averaging around 15 francs each.
Located near St Johann Park, The Kitchen Focacceria is an ideal place to grab a Pinsa and enjoy it outdoors. The establishment also offers take-away options for those on-the-go.
The menu boasts a variety of Pinsas, including the Homemade Salsiccia and the classic Romana. The Bianca and Caligula are also highly recommended. For those looking for something other than Pinsa, The Kitchen Focacceria offers delicious focaccias, such as the one with mozzarella and spicy salami.
The establishment does not have a bar, but they do offer soft drinks, wine, and cocktails such as the Aperol Spritz. The staff is friendly and always willing to help customers choose the perfect Pinsa or focaccia.
In conclusion, The Kitchen Focacceria is a must-visit eatery in Basel for those looking for an authentic and delicious Pinsa experience.

I recently visited The Kitchen Focacceria with my child. The food was absolutely delicious – especially the focaccia, which was a real highlight. Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. We were told the wait would be 15 minutes, but ended up waiting 45 minutes in the evening cold. I was genuinely concerned for my child’s health due to the long wait in such chilly weather. When I raised the issue, the only response I got was, “Sorry, we have a lot of orders.” Honestly, that’s not an excuse that makes the situation any better – internal issues shouldn’t affect the customer experience like this. I hope the management takes steps to improve the service because the food is truly worth it, but the overall experience left a bad taste.
