Came here with mum while travelling the north island. Most things were objectively good here - we had the hot Mekong / Thai sauce with our boil and that was absolutely delicious and proper spicy. Plenty of seating, parking, and service was friendly and prompt. Seafood was well prepared and the sides were great (the garlic bread was soft and soaked up the remaining sauce really well). Atmosphere was modern and warm, and the gloves/bib and paper table spreads were a nice touch at managing the mess. Crab cutters and scissors were also provided. There’s also a sink to wash your hands behind the counter if you do get them messy. My only two observations for making things better were if they provided each table a jug of water - the water dispenser they had was quite slow and it felt cumbersome having to go back and forth from your table to the water. We also selected no chorizo for our boil but that didn’t make it cheaper (neither did they replace it with something else). It would’ve been nice to have something to replace it, even if it were a vegetable of sorts. Still, it’s overall a great place for dates and family gatherings - would certainly recommend. It was our first time at The Krab Rotorua on 9 March 2026. We ordered a Cray Cray with Krab Cajun Sauce and garlic bread. The dishes were very good. We highly recommend it. A big thank you to ‘MAVIS’ for her impeccable service, her thoughtfulness and her helpful advice. We immediately felt immersed in the seafood boil atmosphere. See you again soon. Table 3.
