Maybe I'm the first person to write a bad review about the Lab, wondering what went wrong? It is sad, as on the beautiful evening it was, after an amazing cocktail at the brewery Roe and Co, we were looking forward to discovering a new place for us in our neighbourhood, and thought of the Lab. Past 9pm, "only take away"... "fine" we said... Our wish was that we would have been told that there were many orders before ours, which was impossible to know because there was only one other couple in the restaurant waiting for their own takeaway . The really sad thing was that after roughly twenty minutes waiting we asked a lady there how much longer it would take to get our pizzas. She blatantly ignored us. This was unprecedented, unnecessary and left us standing there in shock. Our pizzas were already paid for, what to do? Several minutes later, after seeing more pizza boxes going into Carriers' delivery bags, we approached the man who took our order and said that, considering the lengthy waiting we were experiencing, we would have appreciated him telling us that there would be at least a 25 minute wait before we'd get our pizzas. Again, we were met with an unfairly aggressive response "It's normal to wait 24 minutes"... Well, it's not really! There are other places that do pizzas on the street and, had we known, we would not have waited that long, uncomfortably standing at the door of the restaurant. The sad review I am writing here to the Lab is for their loss/lack of civil communication. I am glad that their business is doing great, and I wish them well, but please don't take your customers for granted. It's a horrible feeling. Needless to say that it was difficult to enjoy the pizzas after that. As for the pizzas themselves, in my long lived experience of enjoying pizzas, they were not great. The dough was good, the topping however was not. It was too sweet, and strangely runny. We could tell that they had been rushed! So for the people who work there, please, when/if you have another customer who is experiencing a distressing long wait, maybe just say we're sorry it's taking so long. So if you people at the Lab read this review, know that an apology would be welcome. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I’m so sorry to hear you weren’t happy with the wait time for your pizza. To make fresh, wood-fired pizza which is hand stretched, you’re looking at around 15-20 minutes at a minimum. I’ve spoken with the staff and have checked your order on our systems and it was ready 23 minutes after it was placed. I understand you were advised that the wait time would be 15-20 minutes, so I appreciate that we did go slightly over this, however I know the staff kept you updated throughout this time.
