The older I get, the more friends of mine move to the suburbs and the harder we have to try to find a decent place for us all to meet up in midtown. The Landing largely solves that problem. Located inside the newly renovated 1 Penn Plaza, The Landing is a hip happy hour spot among commuters with a solid cocktail menu and pretty good food. If you're looking to not break the bank, definitely get here before 6 to take advantage of their discounted bites and sips. I loved the blood orange margarita I ordered (enough to keep ordering it after happy hour was over, which is saying something at $18 per cocktail). The oysters we had were fresh, and the white bean hummus was light, creamy and flavorful. Each day of the week has a different menu special. I was there on a Tuesday which was homemade pasta night, but the crabmeat special I had was lacking in flavor. The service here is absolutely top notch though. Walking into the space was a little overwhelming for me with tons of bar patrons crowding the entrance, but the hostess and waitress we had were super nice and very welcoming. It was great to feel taken care of!
