Do not eat here. I'm sure this place pulls people in for a pint and the football, but it isn't an acceptable place for food. We visited The Priory for a quick lunch (sandwich, salad, and chips) and had to wait well over an hour for our simple food to arrive. We complained and were told only one chef was working that day. Within the nearly two hours we had to spend here, however, only four equally simple meals were served. The kitchen clearly wasn't busy and the wait isn't acceptable. I'm also not sure how much food is actually being made on site. A waitress walked in the main door with multiple bags of salad from the co-op over the road during our long wait. When the food did arrive it was largely unpleasant. The bagged salad was fine as was the coleslaw, but the sandwiches were flavourless and served on very dry buns. The beef in one sandwich was so tough it simply couldn't be eaten. The chips were average, but only 10 were served on each plate. The atmosphere was uninviting. The decor was very dark and uninviting, and there is way too much empty space alongside too few seating areas. It's like everyone has their own isolated island to dine from. The bathrooms were also very unpleasant and clearly not kept clean throughout the day. One member of our party used the female bathroom and had to navigate around a large pool of water on the floor with the help of another unhappy customer. A very unpleasant experience. I'm very annoyed at them for having taken my money, and also at myself for not demanding a refund, as it simply wasn't worth the value.
