My wife and her sister threw a party for their parents 55th anniversary here. It was amazing. The food was great the service was great. Isaiah was working the bar i/we kept him busy, he did an outstanding job. Zoe and her team also made the experience top notch! They kept everything going smoothly. It was better than we expected. I also really enjoyed reading the history of Dr Ridley (restaurant named in his honor). I recommend anyone in Charlottesville to check out this amazing establishment! Sorry i didn't take any photos of the food because i crushed it. The shrimp and grits are great. The chicken was also very good im definitely coming back when in cville! Meal type: Lunch

I was so looking forward to this upscale cuisine. Very disappointed with my dinner. No flavor whatsoever and everything was bland. The cornbread was the best thing ever. Go and enjoy cornbread and some water. The Arnold Palmer that I order was very weak. Black owned restaurants are known for their ice tea and lemonade. Not this one. That will be a no. The only upscaled item I had today was my bill. Even the presentation of my dinner plate did not speak volume as well as the taste. I drove over an hour to be disappointed . As a New Jersey resident, I’ve had my fair share of great food up and down the East Coast—but The Ridley in Charlottesville genuinely stood out in a way I didn’t expect. First off, the shrimp and grits with scallops? Absolutely unreal. The grits were perfectly creamy and rich without being too heavy, the shrimp cooked just right, and the scallops—honestly the star—were seared to perfection with that buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Every bite felt balanced, flavorful, and elevated without losing that comforting Southern soul. Beyond the food, the hospitality was something you don’t always come across. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome—not rushed, not just another table, but actually cared for.
