While visiting Key West, FL on business I decided to stop in at a coffee shop recommended by a coworker. It is a tiny shop operating in a 4ft x 4ft room with two windows. My coworker said they had good Cuban coffee so I decided to try their Cafe con Leche. When I got there I was hungry and decided to try their sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. The sandwich is served on Cuban bread that is warmed panini style with the filling added after the bread is removed from the panini press. The sandwich is lightly seasoned with pepper and you have the option of adding mayonnaise, ketchup, and/or mustard if you want. I chose to have mine dry. The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was very tasty. The cheese is folded into the egg and adds a nice smoothness to the sandwich. I regret that I did not ask what type of cheese they used, but my guess is American cheese. The Cafe con Leche was robust without being harsh. I had my large with two sugars. One of my favorite sandwiches is the Cuban sandwich. The Riviera Coffee & Sandwich Shop offers a Cuban Mix sandwich that I am eager to try out one day for lunch.
