Great food and great service! Jen is the best cocktail waitress that will get you drinks while you wait! Brunch without booze is just a sad late breakfast...
Overpriced drinks, "poached eggs" were soft boiled. $15 shrimp dish had 3 or 4 tiny shrimp, nothing had much flavor and it was luke warm. very disappointed on our first visit yesterday. prefer High Hat, Russell's, or Another Broken Egg. ????
I went to New Orleans with my best friend and we ate at the Ruby Slipper Café 3 days out of 5 (only because we HAD to try something new for the other two). The first day I went we both had the Southern Breakfast. The eggs were fluffy (I got them scrambled), the biscuit was one of the best I'd ever had (AND IT WAS HUGE), and their grits were probably my favorite (If they came from a box, don't tell me). The chicken sausage was a delicious alternative to bacon. Their drink menu is fantastic (loved my Bellini and the cranberry mimosa) and the service was quick. Overall, the experience was so good the first time, we had to come back a second and a third time. The second time we went I built my own omelet and had double the grits (duh) but it was the third time back that stole the show. Let's talk about the Chicken St. Charles and how it was a symphony in my mouth. The chicken was done exactly how chicken in the south should be done - fried to perfection - crispy on the outside, moist (bad word I know, but apropos) and delicious on the inside.  Add an egg, sauce and put it on a monster biscuit and you've found the star of your show. These are only a few of the dishes on their extensive menu and I have no doubt that the next time I visit New Orleans it'll be a Ruby Slipper everyday kind of trip. 5 stars - great service, awesome atmosphere, amazing food. I went back three times, joined the rewards program, and bought a t-shirt that should tell you something.
