I had been dying to try Smash Shack and the stars aligned today after attending the duck derby. We were so glad we did. Wow! This was (and I don’t take this lightly) by far, the best smash burger that I have ever had. I’m obsessed with smash burgers and have tried them all over town. I got the second one with blue cheese, truffle mayo and bacon onion jam. All of it tasted amazing but the truffle mayo really made it. All the ingredients really paired well together. We also had crispy waffle fries with I think Parmesan cheese which was soooooo good. The owner was very nice and made sure that everyone was doing well and enjoyed the food. She also said that she also owns Fat Butcher which makes sense why the meat is so good. We definitely did. I’ll be counting the days until I can come back and have that delicious food again. It’s a very small kitchen and griddle.

I am somewhat of a smash burger enthusiast. I love them, and I've tried so many around Pittsburgh--from Moonshot to Butterjoint, and everywhere in between. But let me tell you: the Smash Shack smash burger is easily the best in the 'Burgh. Every part of it works together perfectly--the choice of bun, the homemade pickles, the carmalized onions, and the SAUCE!--all in perfect ratio. I can't praise it enough. If you are a burger fan, you have to put this on your list of places to try. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
