Hey folks, let me tell you... I’ve been going to The Spot here in Minot for a good while now, and every time I walk in I still do a little double-take like, “Wait this used to be an Ace Hardware?” It’s wild. One day you’re buying nails and weed whacker string, the next day you’re in the same building trying to act like you know how to play pool. They didn’t just convert it — they filled it. I’m talking wall-to-wall pool tables. So many Diamond tables it feels like they had some kind of going-out-of-business sale for felt. You check in at the front, pay by the hour (which is honestly a great deal), and then you get to decide: bring your own fancy stick so you look like you belong, or use one of the house cues that has clearly seen some things. I usually go with the house cue. Keeps me humble. The bar in the back keeps the drinks cold and the pizza hot enough to get the job done. Nothing fancy, but when you’re three games deep and you’ve already scratched twice, that pepperoni hits different. They’ve also got pinball machines, digital golf, pull tabs basically every fun way to slowly go bankrupt with a smile on your face. And can I just say — the place is clean. For a big hall full of grown men leaning over tables saying “I’m putting a little English on this one,” it’s shockingly nice in there. The staff is great too. They’re friendly, they keep things moving, and they never make you feel bad when you’re over there playing like it’s your first time holding a pool cue. There’s even rumors of some upstairs area where you can book weddings and parties. I’ve never been up there. I’m still working my way up from the “I just want to play pool and not embarrass myself too bad” level. One day. Maybe. Oh, and the best part? It’s right kitty-corner from Ebeneezer’s. So you can go have yourself a Fat Frog across the street, then wander over here and try to shoot pool while your body is quietly filing a complaint. It’s the most dangerous and beautiful bar crawl combo in Minot. Look, if you like pool, cold drinks, good laughs, and turning a former hardware store into an evening of questionable geometry The Spot is the place. I keep coming back, even though my win-loss record is basically a cry for help. Highly recommend. Just maybe stretch before you try those trick shots. Your back will thank you later. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I may need to visit a few more times before I leave a posting in relations to the Spot. I was in there one time. But it was about 4 years ago there was a car show on main Street and a lot of them cars were showing over its spot so we went over looked at the cars and went inside and played a game of pool I know they had pool tables there we paid two games of pool and drink maybe a couple beers. I don't know anybody that goes there or works there. With the prices were very competitive the atmosphere was really nice and upbeat with the music and it was just a very good day for everybody went outside to have some lunch at a couple of the vendors that was all right I guess. Like to thank the management for hosting a very nice pleasant soft atmosphere. On first impressions that was my dig on that. -johnny- Price per person: $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
