Although we love the ambience and location the food has been steadily getting worse. It really is a disappointment. This week it was fish and chips that were so thoroughly overcooked that it was just an oily mess. When time is of the essence with your show time creeping up then sending food back really is not a realistic option. Better of finding another venue in the beginning Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I had a most unpleasant experience making enquiries about holding a private function here. I was told by the event management staff that they would look into possibilities to suit our budget. They then turned around and intimated that I had not read the Terms and Conditions (I did, that's what I based my enquiries on regarding possible package flexibility). They suggested that I "check back" 2 weeks prior to the planned function date to see if the venue was still free, since October is a "very busy" (read high income earning) period for them (obviously they perceived our event to be too small a financial gain, and they were holding out for a "bigger fish" to catch). Our fault, I guess, for trying to book a venue well ahead of time! Their refusal to offer even a small discount was in stark contrast to their repeated reassurance that they "are doing everything they can for our event". But then the senior event manager went a step too far, and described my 3 polite requests for various possible ways to meet our budget as being excessive. She falsely accused me of asking for the venue hire fee to be waived (which I never did!). She never once apologised for the consternation she introduced into what was otherwise a fairly pleasant encounter with her junior staff member. It is common practice to enquire about the possibility of a discount when negotiating event costs: I certainly have done so previously and it has never been suggested to me with such rudeness that these enquiries are inappropriate. So if you are looking to hold a private function at the Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf, be prepared to not ask more than 1 question, make sure your event details are repeated to them ad nauseum (they could not even recall the correct start and finish times I had requested for the function) and do not dare to try and ask for any flexibility with the packages. Customer service consists of rudely putting the blame back on the customer!
