Feeling quite disappointed, as we used to love this pub and visited regularly. Unfortunately, over the last 6/7 months, we’ve noticed a significant change in attitude towards customers bringing dogs. We visited again recently and had another experience that left us feeling uncomfortable. There are some steps outside leading down to the garden, so I briefly picked our dog up to carry him down them. As he is a dachshund, we try to avoid letting him walk down steps where possible. I put him straight back down once at the bottom, a member of staff immediately came running over and told me that dogs need to be on the floor at all times. I completely understand that this is the pub’s rule, and we do keep him on the floor when visiting. However, I felt the way this was handled was unnecessary and quite embarrassing, as the staff member loudly told us off in front of everyone, which resulted in people around us turning to look. To be fair, this attitude seems to be coming from one or two members of staff, other staff members have always appeared friendly and have never seemed to have an issue with dogs. There are plenty of other dog-friendly pubs nearby, but it’s frustrating because this used to be one of our favourites. We really hope management takes this feedback on board, as we’d love to see the pub return to the welcoming atmosphere it once had.

What was a great meal and experience ruined after ordering £100 worth of food and drinks my girlfriend eats a bar of chocolate and was told she couldn’t. 6 months pregnant and diabetic she wasn’t amused, after challenging and explaining the answer was still no. Didn’t bother raising to a manager, we just left. I completely understand and agree with no outside food eaten on site, but surely show an ounce of discretion considering her obvious pregnancy and value of our custom not to mention invisible disabilities such as diabetes that may require quick access to sugar. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £30–40
