The food was exceptional and the place is lovely. Unusually good house white, too. A highlight was the wheel of Young Buck being passed around for everyone to scoop from. We will certainly be back. N.b. There is a service charge now; 16% on our bill (although the percentage was not given). Also, I booked Friday lunch several weeks in advance and it was not too early to do so. Price per person: £70–80

I finally made it to The Yellow Bittern since I had heard about the place opening back in 2024, as my partner took me there as a birthday treat. We were warmly welcomed and settled into the cosy atmosphere that felt like we were dining in a familiar, intimate living room. There, we sat back and, over the course of three hours, enjoyed a simple, hearty set menu accompanied by a very nice bottle of wine, letting the conversation between us and those around us flow. This place isn't your modern small-plates restaurant, where you'll be served by a hipster whose outfit is even more pretentious than the menu's prices. It's unassuming and doesn't ask for attention—it's good food at a good price. It's where dining came from, and in my opinion, we need more places like this to go back to. We left with full bellies and two beautiful books from the bookstore, one even signed by Hugh Corcoran himself. Price per person: £80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
