It had been a couple of years since we were in Rockville and the Thirty Six Saloon. The food was really good and the atmosphere was fun. The wife even purchased a bottle of their BBQ sauce. Our only issue was that our appetizer came out with our food and had obviously been stuck under a headlamp too long. The waitress had no problem getting the fries remade for us. No questions asked. We will be back! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Pulled Pork Sandwich, Burger, Breaded Tenderloin

First, I want to state that I fully understand that the service industry is suffering severe staffing shortages and that my family and I arrived expecting that the wait would be relatively long. It took 30 minutes to be seated (completely reasonable under the circumstances) and the waitress was friendly and prompt (fantastic). However, when an hour went by after being seated without an update on our food, I inquired as to how much longer she thought it might be. When the waitress returned from the kitchen, we were told at least 35 to 40 more minutes (that seemed excessive to me). I asked to speak to the manager to get clarification. When the manager arrived at our table she immediately went on the attack. Stating that I was wrong, that we have only been there for 35 minutes and that we knew it was going to be a long wait (we were told there was a long wait to be seated, not that we wouldn't get our food for an hour and 35 plus minutes after we ordered it). I am a patient and understanding person and this could've been easily resolved with a patient and understanding response from the manager. However, she chose to immediately get angry, accuse me of lying about the length of time and belittle me in front of my family and other patrons nearby. I have never been so disrespected by a manager in my life. And to top it off, we came here for my wife's birthday dinner. I am willing to forgive a certain amount of behavior due to someone being overworked and stressed because of extenuating circumstances, but this manager's actions went far beyond anything remotely acceptable.
So, with that being said, if you arrive expecting not to eat for at least 2 hours and avoid speaking with the manager at all cost; I'm sure the food is delicious and you'll have a pleasant enough dining experience in an atmosphere that is both unique and rustic in every detail (which is a direct reflection of the surrounding Parke County's many covered bridges and natural attractions). Just don't talk to the manager, to her you're just another entitled tourist wasting time and taking up space, regardless of the situation.
(In the hopes that this review is taken seriously and not written off as just typical customer exaggeration, I can send a screenshot of my Google time-line showing that we arrived at 6:12 and left at 7:49. Otherwise, I'm sure this review would just be angrily thrown aside by her as a lie in the same defensive fashion in which I was treated that evening.)
