Spend a night here because of the Metallica concert. The whole building feels dated and the fact that it has 4 stars is a bit confusing, specially since the room lacked some basic amenities like a fridge. The room I booked was also almost 3 times more expensive that what it was worth due to dynamic pricing. The room itself was spacious and quiet but the mattress was a bit soft. The breakfast they had was average at best. The staff was friendly but I noticed some receptionists ignored me and attended other people before me even though I was queuing for a while. The perk that it has is that it has free parking but it’s first come first served. The location is also far from everything but there’s a bus and train stop about a 10 min walk away. Service: 3

To be fair, we were given a complimentary "half upgrade" to a slightly bigger room, and while the air conditioning did cool the room down, it was incredibly noisy. Unfortunately, those are the only neutral things I can say. The rest of our stay was a complete nightmare. The absolute worst part was the hotel restaurant. We ate breakfast there and ended up with what we are certain is food poisoning, which completely ruined our trip. Even before getting sick, the restaurant service was incredibly aggressive; within just five minutes of sitting down, we were asked at least four times if we were ready to order, making us feel completely rushed. Because we got sick, I asked to cancel our breakfast for the final day. I was explicitly told by staff that I could get a refund upon checkout. However, when I went to check out, the duty manager was incredibly rude and hostile about the request. She flat-out refused to honor it, claiming that "only a manager can issue a refund" and telling me to email the hotel manager. When I stated that I would indeed email the manager, but would also be contacting Trading Standards and the Food Standards Agency about the illness, she actually threatened to call the police on me. An absolutely shocking attempt to intimidate a guest for exercising their consumer rights. The room itself was neither clean nor comfortable. The bed was hard as nails, the pillows felt like sandbags, and the sheets didn’t even fit the mattress properly. Worse, the bathroom was filthy with visible stains on the walls and someone else's hairs left inside the bath. Despite booking for two people, the room was only stocked with toiletries and coffee pods for one. If you wanted more coffee, a sign stated they were £2 each from reception (which is far cheaper at the local shops). The logistics were an absolute joke. The keycard to our room didn't work, and this happened multiple times throughout our stay. After getting locked out yet again, I used the lift lobby phone to call the desk—which a staff member had explicitly told me to do. Instead of an apology for the constant hassle, the woman who answered rudely snapped at me and told me I shouldn't be calling from there. Dismal customer service, cheap corner-cutting, a filthy room, and severe illness capped off by an aggressive, hostile duty manager. Avoid this place at all costs. Note: I have sent a formal email to the hotel manager regarding these serious health, safety, and customer service failures. If management takes accountability and resolves this matter appropriately, I will consider removing this review Service: 1

I attended here for a book event at the start of the month. I didn't stay but experienced their conference rooms and their bar. The conference room was poorly temperature controlled with the AC doing absolutely nothing to cool the room down. The bar was very pricey given the location though the chips we had were very tasty. Alright venue but changes to the air con and the prices would make it better especially as it's not close enough to Cardiff bay to command highetened prices in my opinion
