We had a chicken and duck rice meal and a duck and char siu noodle meal - they were flavourful, fresh and delicious. The lo mein was perfect. Everything brought us back to eating around HK. Cheeky ask – would you consider bringing HK milk tea and HK Lemon tea? Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I had quite high expectations before visiting, as I’d heard a lot of good things about this place. The food is quite authentic Hong Kong-style siu mei. The crispy pork belly had a nicely crispy skin, the char siu tasted very traditional, and the roast duck was tender. However, the pork belly was quite fatty, with more fat than meat, which made it feel a bit oily for my taste. The portion of meat on the rice was also relatively small. On the positive side, the pak choi was fresh and the soy sauce on the rice was very flavourful. Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Hi H dyman,Thank you for your thoughtful review, we’re really glad you enjoyed the authentic Hong Kong-style siu mei. It’s great to hear the crispy pork, char siu and roast duck all hit the mark. Our Cantonese roast meats are always Chopped To Order, so we’re pleased the quality and flavours came through. We also appreciate your feedback on the pork belly and portion balance, it’s really helpful and we’ll share this with the team. Thanks again, and we hope to welcome you back soon at St Paul’s!

Terrible attitude across the franchise, mediocre food. Went to the branch by Liverpool St once and the char siu/ bbq pork I got was 95% fat. I had to bring it back to the counter to get some real meat and the lady had the audacity to criticise me for not requesting for lean meat. Having learned my lesson and because my preferred Mama Li is closed on a Sunday, has to come here as a compromise for a HK food craving. I requested lean meat for the char siu and once again the lady replied “let’s see” when there are literally only 2 other customers and they could clearly offer lean meat. They couldn’t care less about customer satisfaction. The pak choi and noodles were so oily and sticking to each other at the same time. Would never come to any of the Three Uncles again…. Hi Kate — thanks for sharing your experience, and just to clarify: Three Uncles isn’t a franchise, we’re an independent group and we do hold ourselves to consistent standards. From what you’ve described across two visits at two different sites, it sounds like our style of char siu and the way we serve it simply isn’t matching what you’re looking for. Cantonese roast meat does include natural fat and juices as part of the flavour, and the veg/noodles should never feel overly oily or clumped which we have not had issue with before. We appreciate you giving us a fair try, even if it’s clear we’re not the right fit for you.
