We were asked to leave this restaurant within about 30 seconds simply because we could not speak the local Taiwanese language. When we tried to communicate in English, the staff were extremely unfriendly and repeatedly told us to leave. They also pointed at the menu in a way that strongly implied, “You can’t read this.” This experience completely ruined what had been a very enjoyable trip to Taiwan and left us feeling shocked and upset. Unfortunately, this restaurant negatively affected our perception of how visitors are treated here. I have traveled to many countries around the world, and I have never experienced treatment like this before. Tienfood in Da’an is a great spot! The curry beef and chicken are both delicious, and the music and ambience make it a really enjoyable place to eat. Service is friendly and on point—definitely worth a visit. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $1,200–1,400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
