Food has always been my go-to when everything feels like a dark spiral. Tiki Pedro's is the exact source of light I needed this past weekend. I left feeling full and happy, body and soul. Chef Josè loves what he does, and you can see that in the dish- presentation, taste, aroma, everything. He is very kind, patient, and considerate. I ordered- 1. Cuban sandwich (not pictured)- This is an experience pressed in well-done warm soft bread. The flavors stand out individually but also work well together. My taste buds had a celebration there. This is a must-have. 2. Tacos (mojo chicken, beef & potato, and Cuban pork)- Each of the tacos stood out in its own unique way. Pork was juicy and went well together. I love the combination of beef and potatoes. While I personally do not enjoy beef often, Chef Josè made me think that maybe beef is not so bad. The chicken taco was a delight and made the taco trio memorable. 3. The plate- If you are in Rochester, you need to have a 'plate'. This plate is like a glimpse of what Chef Josè is capable of. I had to go slow so I could enjoy every bite and savor every flavor. Each bite was well-balanced with rice, beans, meat, potatoes, and chips. If you are on East Ave and Tiki Pedro's is open, I highly recommend this place for fresh, home-style food. Chef Josè, thank you for going after whatever it was that motivated you to become a chef!
