We ordered the omi beef bowl. That was delicious. We always try omi beef items when we travel to Shiga Prefecture. The Omi beef is one of the best brand of wagyu in Japan. This time again we weren't disappointed, it's a good way to enjoy the real local meat without having to go for an expensive course in a formal beef restaurant. The old school kisaten ( Japanese coffee shop) ambiance is so good. It looks like nothing has changed there in 40 years. A bit like a time travel. The owner was nice. Once again no credit card accepted there like often in Japanese provinces. It think the cashier itself has not changed since the shop was opened. I have to give 5 star to this restaurant! Considering the limited choices of food in Shinraku, I would say Toen is Top 5 best restaurant in the area. It has regular Japanese food, such as curry and toast at an affordable price. Also, they have the wagyu lunch set at less than 2000 yen! (Not sure what grade it is though, but still very juicy) Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
